Taxes are due January 1 and must be received without interest by January 31, or within 30 days of the collecting officer's receipt of the tax roll and warrant if that is later.
www.nysenate.gov Interest of 1% a month, and never less than 12% a year under RPTL 924-a, is added for each month or part of a month after the interest-free period until the tax is paid or returned to the county treasurer.
New York property tax is billed and collected county by county, so the collector — not the state — issues the bill. Very high: New York City runs its own July 1 to June 30 fiscal year with quarterly bills due July 1, October 1, January 1 and April 1 and a 15-day grace period, while Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and several cities use different installment dates or their own local laws.
